The Process Timeline
Material Selection
Each project begins with careful material selection. We examine grain patterns, check moisture content, and assess structural integrity. Only materials meeting our standards proceed to the next stage.
Preparation & Milling
Raw lumber is milled to precise dimensions using both traditional and modern techniques. This stage establishes the foundation for accurate joinery and consistent proportions throughout the piece.
Shaping & Joinery
Components are shaped using a combination of hand tools and precision machinery. Joints are carefully fitted, ensuring tight connections that will maintain structural integrity over time.
Assembly
Pieces are assembled with attention to alignment and squareness. Clamps and fixtures ensure proper positioning during the assembly process. This stage brings all components together into the final form.
Finishing
The final stage involves careful sanding through progressively finer grits, followed by application of natural finishes. Multiple coats are applied with sanding between applications to achieve a smooth, protective surface.
Quality Control
Inspection Standards
Every completed piece undergoes thorough inspection before leaving the workshop. We check for proper fit of joints, surface quality, finish consistency, and overall proportions.
Any piece that doesn't meet our standards is either corrected or set aside for further refinement. We maintain high expectations for every item we produce.
Time & Care
Each step in our process requires time and attention to detail. We don't rush the work, understanding that quality craftsmanship cannot be hurried. The result is pieces that will serve their purpose well for many years.
